History of Jaipur
Maharaja Jai Singh built the city in 1727 as the new capital of the Kachwaha dynasty. However, the city came into notice as a developing place only in the early 19th century.

Some of the famous monuments are Jantar Mantar, Albert Hall, City Palace, Statue Circle, Hawa Mahal, and Moti Dungri. Jantar Mantar is amongst the five observatories in India. The creator of this place, Sawai Jai Singh, was a keen student of Astronomy and numerology. The most fascinating instrument here is the Brihat Samrat yantra Sundial, which makes the Jantar Mantar the center of attraction for the tourists. Albert Hall is known as the pride of Rajasthan and is situated right at the center of the Ram Niwas garden, just outside the “pink city”.

Statue circle is although traffic round about but it is not just that. It is the most famous circle in the city and also it is a place of hang put for the citizens here. Moti Dungri, standing for “pearl hill”, is an exotic place that resembles a Scottish castle. Hawa Mahal is the most frequented tourist place in Jaipur. It consists of almost 1000 windows and is best viewed from the other side of the street as the “palace” is just a façade!

Jaipur is famous for its grand buildings with utmost artistry. Also, being the state capital of Rajasthan, it is an epitome of the state’s culture.
