Jaipur Tourism

: A Vibrant Tourist Place

Rajasthan is the vastest state of India and Jaipur is the state capital of this majestic state that is considered otherwise a barren dessert. Jaipur has a lot of tourist attractions that magnetize all tourists. The monuments and forts, the culture, the hospitality of the people here, the special Rajasthani cuisine, the Rajasthani ancient traditions and the great havelis are some of the things that make Jaipur a must visit city for those who wish to explore India to its cores.

History of Jaipur

Maharaja Jai Singh built the city in 1727 as the new capital of the Kachwaha dynasty. However, the city came into notice as a developing place only in the early 19th century.

Places to explore at Jaipur

Some of the famous monuments are Jantar Mantar, Albert Hall, City Palace, Statue Circle, Hawa Mahal, and Moti Dungri. Jantar Mantar is amongst the five observatories in India. The creator of this place, Sawai Jai Singh, was a keen student of Astronomy and numerology. The most fascinating instrument here is the Brihat Samrat yantra Sundial, which makes the Jantar Mantar the center of attraction for the tourists. Albert Hall is known as the pride of Rajasthan and is situated right at the center of the Ram Niwas garden, just outside the “pink city”.

City Palace is a beautiful manifestation of Sawai Rai Singh’s great interest in architecture. Inside City Palace is a museum that displays a wide variety of royal costumes. Here, one can find the delicate and precious Pashimna shawls, Sanganeri prints, folk embroidery and benaras silk saris. Besides that, the museum does have an array of costumes used by Mharaja Sawai Madho Singh I.

Statue circle is although traffic round about but it is not just that. It is the most famous circle in the city and also it is a place of hang put for the citizens here. A number of colorful fountains along with the “Meals on Wheels” make it a favorite place for the people of Jaipur. Moti Dungri, standing for “pearl hill”, is an exotic place that resembles a Scottish castle. Hawa Mahal is the most frequented tourist place in Jaipur. It consists of almost 1000 windows and is best viewed from the other side of the street as the “palace” is just a façade!

Culture of Jaipur

Jaipur is famous for its grand buildings with utmost artistry. Also, being the state capital of Rajasthan, it is an epitome of the state’s culture. One can enjoy the traditional music and dance of Rajasthan in this city. The costumes here include turbans for the males and ghaghra choli for the females. You can hit the street market to find the best Rajasthani handicrafts.

The tourists also enjoy the variety of sports offered by the city. One can relax down at squash field or polo table. And recently, Jaipur has become home to Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

Cuisines in Jaipur

Jaipur is a favorite place for the foodies. It is known for its rich and exotic spicy cuisine that is too tempting to ignore. One can relish the special Rajasthani dishes like besan ke Gattay, Dal Baati, Churma and other local delicacies. Most of the restaurants serve the special Rajasthani cuisine so one can enjoy it to the fullest.

Rajsthan is a place of tradition and culture and Jaipur is a like a mirror to it. You will find Jaipur as a small Rajasthan blossoming with its rich culture.North India holidays
